We transferred into the practice half way through pregnancy with our first child after long wait times and minimal opportunity for questions/ education through my OB. Elaine, Jenna, and Christina (CPM's midwives) took care of the entire family- both myself and baby physically and the entire family mentally/ emotionally. They were always available for questions and provided incredibly helpful information throughout the pregnancy. They also identified and managed unexpected complications that arose at the end of the pregnancy. Our safety was always first priority, and I was impressed with the way the team consulted with physicians, coordinated additional testing, and managed our hospital stay. "My only regret when thinking about Central Park Midwifery is that I didn’t choose them sooner! I started my prenatal care with an OB-Gyn, and made the switch early in my second trimester. In 2019 I was pregnant with my first child, and was very nervous. The midwives at CPM provided my baby and I with the highest quality prenatal care, and always took their time when discussing treatments, diagnostics and results. Any time I had a question, they would respond promptly by email or phone call, and all of my concerns were addressed thoroughly. When the big day came, I was able to spend a lot of time laboring in the comfort of my own home, while remaining in contact with Christina the midwife via calls and text. She supported me through every minute of labor remotely, and never left my side once we reached the hospital. Christina was encouraging and even showed my husband several ways to help lessen my discomfort during contractions. I was able to have the drug-free, intervention-free birth of my dreams. This was the best birthing experience I could have ever hoped for. Throughout my pregnancy and even for a few months after my sons birth, Christina and the other midwives checked on me frequently. "Let me start off by saying that pregnancy and birth have become a business and its hard to find an accommodating environment. That being said, you will find that this special moment with your child is often rushed and far too sterile to allow you to bond and feel in control. As a nurse I knew that this is not what I wanted. I wanted to feel in control, safe, and have the most natural experience while having the amenities of a hospital at hand. Almost everyone I knew had had a C- section and I just didn't want to be cut ! So, when my husband and I found out we were pregnant we contacted Central Park Midwifery.  At the practice you will rotate with Elaine, Jenna, and Christina. I will say that being pregnant and giving birth are nerve wracking! But these ladies are always available via email and their phone line. And as a nurse I will tell you that you can prepare for the most natural of births but anything can happen- you are bringing a precious life in to this world and it is indescribable. Your body will be doing things it never has and you'll be scared, happy, exhausted and your hormones all over the place. The night I gave birth I was BLESSED with Jenna and Christina. They gave me amazing advice on what to do after my water broke. I really wanted my husband to be with me and be apart of this amazing experience- after all he did participate in this 9 months ago HA HA. During the birth they instructed my husband on how to relax me, what to do when contractions were coming, we felt so close! They were so amazing and patient as I was hollering and whoing for hours. Then that special moment when my sweet baby boy came out! I was in awe and to be honest Im still processing what happened because it was so miraculously beautiful. It wouldn't have been possible without these lovely ladies. They ROCKED! You will experience so much but be reassured they are experts and will help you navigate. "I knew I wanted to have midwives manage my pregnancy and I'm so pleased we were recommended CPM. The midwives (Jenna, Christina & Elaine) are extremely knowledgeable, caring, and thorough. Even their receptionist Megan is great. They gave me a huge amount of time & support all the way through my pregnancy and postpartum. While some appointments are necessarily in-person, they also do appointments via Zoom, and you can contact them via text, phone, and email too. I ended up having a few complications and had to be induced, but the wonderful Jenna & Elaine stayed with us every step of the way for the 36 hours of labor explaining every process and step, and what the plan was with each new development. I'm convinced if I'd been with a regular OB that had less time to give me I'd have ended up with a C-Section (no shade intended at C-Section moms - birth is birth! - I was just really hoping to have a vaginal birth). Their holistic family-centered approach is what I feel all pregnancy/birth/postpartum care should be. I cannot recommend them highly enough. "I am so thankful to have received perinatal care from Central Park Midwifery. I was so happy they were my midwives throughout my entire pregnancy; but this was particularly true in the spring of 2020, when it was the peak of the pandemic in NYC and I was in my third trimester. The level of knowledge, compassion, and care they showed was so moving and something I will remember my entire life. Despite the difficulty of that time as a pregnant New Yorker, I always felt safe with CPM and completely trusted their advice. They went above and beyond keeping their clients updated as procedures at the hospital changed daily and throughout it all also continued to patiently respond to the questions about pregnancy I had apart from the pandemic. I also felt comfortable talking to them about aspects of my experience with pregnancy as an adult adoptee and feel certain they treat all their patients with the sensitivity they showed me at those moments. They helped me bring my daughter into the world in a way that was quite different from the circumstances around my own birth. I received wonderful care from CPM during the postpartum period as well. I so appreciate how often they checked in by text to see how I was doing and especially the advice they gave about breastfeeding. I made use of a couple of the postpartum groups I had found out about from them—their recommendations to other providers and places in the city that help support pregnancy and the postpartum period are excellent. They also provided a postpartum packet with all sorts of tips for those weeks after birth. I read it multiple times and it made a huge difference. Without that packet, how would I have discovered the wonders of oat straw tea? And the importance of resting after birth! From the start, they were welcoming and took such good care of me throughout my pregnancies. "When my wife came to me and told me that she wanted to establish care with Central Park Midwifery, she thought I would be hesitant. She was not wrong – I did not fully understand what a midwifery could offer that an OB could not. Ultimately, I wanted to make sure my wife was comfortable, secure, and confident in her birthing team, so I agreed. Entrusting Central Park Midwifery was the best decision we could have made for my wife, my child, and myself.
 Before our most recent childbearing experience, my wife and I suffered a miscarriage. It was early in the pregnancy, but it did not minimize the pain that we felt and still continue to feel. The one shining light of that experience was that Elaine, Jenna, and Christina were there for us every step of the way. When we were fortunate enough to get pregnant again, they were always cognizant of what we had been through and understood when we had extra concerns or worries. As the pregnancy progressed, I was constantly amazed at the level of care and communication that the midwives had directly with my wife.
 When we finally reached the end of the pregnancy, no one could prepare us for what we went through. Throughout the pregnancy, my wife constantly communicated that she was willing to do whatever was necessary to make sure our baby was delivered safely. The only thing she requested was that I would be by her side throughout. After 13 hours of labor, everything was progressing nicely. Then Elaine noticed that our baby’s heartbeat was dropping. While she was explaining this to us, and possible reasons as to why, the rest of the hospital staff was preparing my wife for an emergency C-Section. No one can prepare you for seeing that many hospital staffers rushing to your wife’s bedside. Elaine calmly explained what was happening and what was to happen next. She explained that my wife had to be brought to the operating room so that they could prepare her for the surgery. Ultimately, I would not be allowed in while this was happening. I was devastated. At the same time, they asked me to step outside the hospital room so that they could move her, and a flood of emotion came over me. I was brought to tears. I could not adhere to the one request that my wife asked of me in her birth preferences. Elaine immediately noticed my fear and sadness (even through masking!). She told me to take a few deep breaths and know that the doctors were just prepping my wife, and that I’d be able to be by her side when our baby came into the world. While I just briefly described how Elaine helped me, words could never do enough justice to fully articulate how helpful and calming she was in what were the most traumatic minutes of my life.
 I cannot thank Central Park Midwifery enough for all their help, love, and support they showed my wife, myself, and our baby! He is doing incredible and is the absolute light of our lives! If any prospective fathers/partners are hesitant about midwiferies and would like to talk to me, I am happy to!" - Matt

From my first prenatal appointment until my last postpartum visit, Elaine, Cristina, and Jenna all treated me with care and respect. In each of my appointments, I got all of my questions answered and never felt rushed or judged no matter my questions or concerns. My initial 12 week scan had some abnormalities, which was very challenging for me, and brought up lots of questions. Everyone in the practice was willing to speak to me, counsel me through my thoughts and decision process, give me as much information as they had, and were available to me during off hours. Their team worked in close communication with the team at Mt. Sinai and made me feel confident I was in good hands.
In addition to my prenatal care being exceptional, I had a wonderful birth experience. This was my second baby and the birth far exceeded my expectations.
